Cavat Theatre Arts has over 300 pupils attending from all over the borough of Croydon, Purley, South Croydon and Sanderstead from 18 months old to adults.
The school was founded by Jean Aslett & her mother Vera Sibley in 1987 teaching just modern and tap. The school has expanded and now offers Drama, LAMDA Speech and Drama, Singing, Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Street dance and Tap classes, Tiny Toes Ballet from 18 months & Boys Street Dance Class.
Exams are taken in all genres of dance, singing, musical theatre and Lamda Speech and Drama. The School is now run by Caroline Aslett and managed by Jessie Hay who both originally trained at The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London and went onto a varied career in the entertainment world such as pop videos, cruise ships, cabarets, UK tours and pantomimes.
Cavat has also placed people and children in professional shows, pantomimes, UK Tours, TV, commercials and other performance work. Clients include BBC, CBBC, Qdos, Lion King, Dirty Dancing, Memphis, Grease, Duo Entertainment, Disney, Adidas, Ambi Pur, Argos, Ideal Home Magazine and Homeserve to name a few.
Cavat is run to provide professional tuition in a fun and friendly environment and we are very proud of what we have achieved over the last 20 years or so. It’s a testament to the school that in the last few years, many of our past students have gone onto further education in the performing arts.
