Cavat Theatre Arts has over 300 pupils attending from all over the borough of Croydon, Purley, South Croydon and Sanderstead from 18 months old to adults.
The school was founded by Jean Aslett & her mother Vera Sibley in 1987 teaching just modern and tap. The school was then ran by Caroline Aslett for over 20 years before relocating across the pond to America in 2023. The school is now ran by Siobhán who not only was a Cavat student herself taught by both Caroline and Jean as a child but has worked at Cavat as a teacher since 2016 and managed the school since 2019.
The school has expanded and since it first began in 1987 and now offers, Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Street dance, Tap, Acrobatic Arts. Contemporary, Musical Theatre and our Parent and Toddler Ballet Classs – Tiny Toes Ballet from 18 months as well as preschool classes.
Exams are taken in all genres of dance, singing, musical theatre and Lamda.
All teacher credits can be found on our Staff Page.

Cavat is run to provide professional tuition in a fun and friendly environment. We are very proud of what we have achieved over the last 20 years or so. It’s a testament to the school that in the last few years, many of our past students have gone onto further education in the performing arts.
The main thing that sets Cavat aside from other performing arts school is our Cavat Family. Now Principal Siobhán was a Cavat student from the age of 6, two of our talented teachers Emilia and Leanne were Cavat students from the age of 3 and are now qualified teaching staff on the Cavat Team, 3 of our teachers have been with us 10+ years and our admin manager Sue is Mum to Principal Siobhán therefore has been a part of Cavat 20+ years herself. Most students join us in preschool classes and stay with us until they head to uni at 18. Some undertake teaching qualifications and come back to us and some pop back to chaperone our bi-annual shows. Cavat prides itself on being an environment staff, students and parents/guardians feel safe, happy and excited to be a part of and that is what makes Cavat such a special place to train.
Cavat is extremely fortunate to have a first class team of professional and dedicated staff, who are all fully insured, trained & hold DBS checks.
If you want more information about any of our classes or the school itself please contact us or head over to our timetables page to send us an enquiry for your child’s school year and we’ll be in touch.
